January 2012 Updates!

Welcome to the new year, everyone! So many exciting things have happened since my last post.

I'm happy to share new images in the Video Game Work tab up top from Sanzaru Games Wii title, Mystery Case Files - The Malgrave Incident. The game has a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon.com and has fans of the series very excited for this Nintendo Wii addition.

In even bigger news, Sanzaru Games Inc. announced development of Sly Cooper - Thieves in Time at E3 2011 to journalists and fans all over the world. It's generating huge amounts of attention and I have to say this has been my absolute favorite project to work on. I hope to be able to show some screen-shots later this year. For now you're limited to this tiny thumbnail of a boss battle I worked on. :D

New portfolio page.

I can finally show the work I did for the film The Sorcerer's Apprentice. Mainly I worked with Realscan 3D to provide resurfaced character models based on digital scans of various actors.

Their system captures extremely high resolution data from their subjects as unordered point clouds. I took those incredibly detailed meshes and created more manageable, animation-ready topology built to the specifications of the receiving effects studio's rigging needs.

In the past I haven't been able to show much of this work, but some of these models can now be seen in the new Film tab on the top of this page.

Bicycle rigged for animation.

Animation rig for a 1:1 scale bicycle I modeled in Maya. I utilized controllers with added attributes and set driven keys as well as multiply and reverse nodes for the drivetrain and lattices driven by clusters for the tire squash.

One slider can turn the crank arms/sprocket, spinning both wheels and keeping the pedals hanging freely or locked with a character's feet in them.

Added to the Pre-rendered CG tab up top!

Sea Witch

My latest maquette is a Sea Witch (concept by Seamas Gallagher). Made from Super Sculpy, aluminum armature wire, steel piping and painted with acrylics. You can see more in the "Sculptures" section up top.

She appeared along with my Yeti sculpture at the 2nd Annual Science Fiction and Fantasy Art Exhibit held at Periscope Cellars in Emeryville (curated by J.B. Lowe). There was a great turnout and a bunch of amazing talent.
